With private picnic tables and fire pits for every pitch and a wide open grassy space for yoga, reading in the sun, ball games and children’s games, this is a perfect place for families, couples or friends to escape, relax and reset in beautiful, comfortable surroundings. What sets this campsite apart in luxury is a brand-new sparkling clean bathroom block, a Wi-Fi hub, a woodshed where you can purchase logs for your firepit and a shed with a freezer for freezer blocks. There is a helpful noticeboard detailing all the best circular walks from the campsite as well as a large interactive map of Pembrokeshire which shows activities and places of interest to visit.
CHOOSE YOUR PITCH
Every pitch harbours uniquely charming characteristics. The higher camping pitches such as Gannet’s Ledge and Fulmar’s Nest have the most spectacular views down the valley to the coastline; they have a wonderful sense of open space and are a little closer to the bathrooms. The lower pitches such as Mermaid’s Purse and Kelp Beds benefit from the shelter of the woodland that swathes the lower part of the valley; each is a cosy suntrap immersed in birdsong. Grey Seal is at the opening of the woodland clearing at the foot of the valley, perfect for watching woodpeckers and ravens in the valley. Blenny’s Nook is in the far corner of the campsite, a cosy quiet nook fringing the outer woodland; this is a perfect little suntrap with hardly a whisper of wind! Take a look Our pitches are all surrounded by saplings and bordered with wildflowers, which gives them a sense of personal space and privacy. The geodesic dome is situated in a hidden woodland clearing and the foot of the camping field, in the pitch called Harbour Porpoise.
WALKING THE PEMBROKESHIRE COAST
A plethora of circuit walks starting and finishing at the campsite as well as longer walks which link up with the coastal shuttle buses will immerse you in the historical heritage of the landscape from craggy cliffs and undulating sandstone coves to volcanic headlands and glacial valleys; ancient drowned forests to Neolithic burial chambers; from the oldest working woollen mill in Wales magnificent 12th-century cathedral. From these well-traversed trails, swathed in sea campion, yellow gorse and pink thrift flowers, you can spot inquisitive grey seals lazing on the rocky shoreline, pods of harbour porpoise and Atlantic sea birds fishing, peregrines diving and kittiwakes nesting. Mull over mesmerising rock pools where ruby-red beadlet anemones sway, blennies dart between pebbles and winkle shells shimmer in the sun… Comb the tideline for a mermaid’s purse or sea-smoothed pottery amongst the driftwood.
For just £15, we provide our campers with a weatherproof OS map and an incredibly insightful information pack which sets out a carefully curated itinerary utilising the coastal shuttle bus service to explore a spectacular and well-traversed stretch of the trail between St Dogmael’s and St David’s.
