Set in the idyllic Welsh countryside, Cwm Hedd is an eight acre spring-fed lake, which is (as the English translation of Cwm Hedd means) a haven of peace and tranquillity.
Its position in undulating pastures is by no means hard to reach: only five minutes from junction 28 of the M4, within easy reach of Newport, Cardiff and the surrounding countryside. Less than 2 hours from London and only half and hour from Cardiff International Airport. Cwm Hedd is the ideal location for quality fly fishing.
We also have disabled access with a car parking area, access to lodge and lake, with 8 dedicated fishing platforms. We are committed to improving our access for all.
We have over 40 fishing platforms including platforms on two islands.
The lakes are fully stocked with rainbow and blue trout of varying weights up to 15lbs: brownies and tigers up to 8lb have also recently been introduced.
Close to the lodge, the Lodge Pond is well-stocked with rainbow trout averaging around 1.5lb. Its eight platforms are ideal for juniors, novices and anyone who has difficulty with mobility (or anyone who wants to be closer to the source of hot drinks on a cold day!).
Lodge Pond is around a quarter of an acre, with a maximum depth of 6 feet.
All in all, Cwm Hedd is the ideal place for a day of peaceful recreation and excellent fly fishing.
