Black Mountain Lodge B & B

Glasbury, Powys, Powys, HR3 5PT, Wales

Welsh Tourist Board

Black Mountain Lodge is a Characterful Guest House offering a warm welcome, relaxing atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a delicious hearty Breakfast. We have Double,Twin and family en-suite rooms to suit all budgets and tastes and are located on the outskirts of Glasbury on Wye, just 3 miles from Hay on Wye.

The history of the Black Mountain Lodge goes back to the 18th century when it was originally built as stables for the horse drawn tramway. This section of the Tramway ran from Hay-on-Wye to Brecon, transporting goods (some remnants of the tramway still remain). It was later replaced by a railway in around 1864; this was then also closed to passengers in 1962 and later dismantled.

Over the years it has had many uses, including a farm with onsite Mill, parts of which can be seen in the Lounge and outside. In more recent years has been transformed into a lovely guest house which is full of the charm of a by-gone era but with the creature comforts of today

Nestled at the foothills of the Black Mountains the lodge is surrounded by beautiful countryside in a very un-spoilt corner of Wales. It is a perfect stopover for anyone who is visiting the area to walk in the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains or for those who just want to "get away from it all" and unwind.

From the lodge there is also a wide range of activities available to you, such as open canoeing, archery, clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking, hill walking and mountain biking.
