03 June 2016 The Royal Mint Experience is open! More than three years in the making, the public can finally visit the purpose built attraction on site at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, South Wales. The construction of the new visitors centre was captured in this impressive time-lapse video. allowfullscreen&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt; The Royal Mint Experience allows visitors to see how and where all of the United Kingdom's and over 60 other countries from around the world's coins are designed and struck, many of which are also on display. Visitors can learn about The Royal Mint's history spanning over 1,000 years, from their first home in the Tower of London to their current home for over 40 years in Llantrisant, just outside of Cardiff. The tour includes the circulating coin production room where your host will explain how coins are produced. Next stop is the striking room containing rows and rows of coin striking machines which produce thousands of coins every day, 24 hours a day.
