Storm Troopers visit Wales

Although filming for the latest Star Wars Movie took place across the Welsh border, not even the Stormtroopers could resist a visit to this Beautiful Country!

Despite not staring in the film, the Wye Valley played a significant part in the making of The Force Awakens. Accommodation providers, restaurants, pubs and cafés in the Wye Valley were absolutely crucial in keeping the 500 plus cast and crew filming crucial scenes nearby fed, watered and comfortable. Kathleen Kennedy, a producer on the film, was bursting with praise in a recent interview saying that "everybody in the surrounding area was anxious to help us and make it happen."

For this week only - To celebrate Star Wars launch, the owners of Monmouthshire Cottages have slightly changed their prizewinning welcome! This family business based in Tintern, Wye Valley, which won the Visit Wales National Tourism Award for Best Visitor Welcome 2015, normally offers a personal welcome to all of their guests by humans - but for this week only they have Stormtroopers helping too !

Fiona Wilton Vice Chair and Director of Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism Board said “ We know that when the huge crew of Star Wars were in the area many Wye Valley businesses welcomed and accommodated them all but we were sworn to secrecy! We are so looking forward to seeing our area on the screen. Our little Stormtroopers are a bit of fun much appreciated by our set-jetting guests young and old who are also looking forward to seeing the movie locations during their stay in Wales."
