Skate into the festive season around Wales
It doesn't matter if you're more like Torvill and Dean or Bambi; ice-skating is a fun way to get yourself into the Christmas spirit, whatever your ability. There are some great outdoor rinks popping up across the country this winter. Get your skates on, have a laugh and burn some energy (got to make room for a mince pie afterwards!)

Cardiff Winter Wundercoverland by Cardiff City Council
To keep skaters dry, Cardiff's Winter Wonderland has become the punny 'Winter Wundercoverland', thanks to the addition of a clear roof over the rink. Visitors will be able to skate for a whopping 55 days throughout the festive season, closing only on Christmas Day. Along with the rink, there'll be fairground rides and the Alpine Village, so you won't be short of tasty treats and things to do. If you have time, check out the Christmas Market along The Hayes, too.

Ice Skating at The Celtic Manor by The Celtic Manor
The rooftop garden at this upscale golf and country resort near Newport has had a seasonal makeover. This year it is home to a big undercover ice rink. The roof is clear, so you can skate outside without being rained on yet still see the wintery sky. Surrounding the rink is the Ice Kingdom, where you can buy warming drinks and giant sausages from the Bratwurst Hut. Head down after dark for a more grown-up atmosphere.

Swansea Waterfront Wonderland by The City and County of Swansea
Back for its eleventh year, Waterfront Winterland brings festive frolics to Swansea city centre. The alpine cabins and funfair attractions have moved in to Museum Park by the National Waterfront Museum, not to mention a big all-ages ice rink and a smaller children-only ice rink. Partner your visit to the site with some Christmas shopping in The Quadrant shopping centre or on Oxford Street.
