Snowdonia Walking Festival is returning for 2018 with a brand new look and a range of walks for the whole family.
The weekend is the perfect opportunity to experience and enjoy the magical surroundings of Snowdonia National Park, with its unique and majestic beauty.
Based in Betws-y-Coed, the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia’ with its stunning forests and lakes; from here a range of professionally guided walks will take you to mountains and forests to enjoy some of the best Snowdonia has to offer.
This year’s Snowdonia Walking Festival has something for everyone. Bring the whole family along for the ‘Nature Trail for Families’, a fun walk and adventure activity to learn about the local trees and wildlife; or if you’re looking for something a little more challenging then Snowdon via the Rhyd Ddu and South Ridge is the perfect way to explore Wales highest mountain while enjoying stunning views of the national park.
There are other walks which highlight the local area such as the beautiful Llyn Elsi and Gwydyr Forest and you can enjoy a section of the brand new Snowdonia Slate Trail and it’s slate mining history. There’s even the opportunity to learn new skills to help you gain confidence in the outdoors with the ‘Getting to know your Map and Compass’ sessions.
Local experts will be leading walks with particular interest such as ‘The Stories of the Stones of Betws-y-Coed’. This walk will bring you into contact with the stories in the landscape, the river and the stones of the truly mystical Betws-y-Coed where myths and legends abound. The stories of the stones have been over 450 million years in the making. You may be surprised by what you discover!
This year Snowdonia Walking Festival will take place Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November. Supported by Betws-y-Coed Tourism Association and co-ordinated by Breese Adventures. Information on all the walks mentioned above and others is available at snowdoniawalkingfestival.co.uk.
