Montgomery Walking Festival at Montgomery

Powys, Montgomery, Powys, SY15 6PA, Wales

The Historic Landscapes Walking Festival is Montgomery's first ever and features 7 walks of varying lengths and levels of difficulty. The walks are set in a designated Outstanding Registered Historic Landscape and include hillforts, moated farms, castles, ancient earthworks and much more.

The most difficult of the walks is the 22-mile Challenge walk, a newly devised trail which takes in parts of Offa's Dyke, Glyndwr's Way, the Severn Way and the Kerry Ridgeway. There’s a 6-mile canal-side Wildlife walk, a 13-mile walk taking in the Offa’s Dyke and Kerry Hills, a 4-mile walk to include Montgomery Castle, a 5-mile hike taking in the elevated Montgomeryshire War Memorial, an 8.5-mile walk centred on the Offa’s Dyke and a 1-mile walk with a Treasure Hunt for families.
A brand new series of Walking Trails will also be launched at the Festival with trails varying in length from 2 ½ miles to 13 miles.

Evening entertainment will feature the town's first Oktober Fest on Friday 6th with local ciders, beer, sauerkraut and bratwurst and the launch of a brand new Festival Beer "Best Offa" brewed by the town's Monty's Brewery. Live music by local band Up All Night.
On Saturday 7th there will also be a locally sourced Supper with a concert by the Guilsfield Singers in the Town Hall.
The town's Old Bell Museum will open for the duration of the weekend - a special opening for the Walking Festival weekend - featuring a special exhibition for the 750th Anniversary of the Battle of Montgomery.
