Canalathon at Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal

Ceredigion, Newport To Brecon, Brecon, Powys, LD3 7EW, Wales

09 September 2017

The 2017 Canalathon celebrates over 200 years of one of the most scenic canal routes in Britain. This 35 mile endurance challenge will take you on an historic journey following the lovely wooded Usk Valley right into the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park terminating in the historic town of Brecon itself.

The Canalathon is not a race but a challenge! The Canalathon is very much a team event and as such your team is required to stay together! Teams of four are invited to complete this epic challenge in under twelve hours. Teams consist of four people and a team manager!

The challenge starts at Pontymoile Basin with a six mile open canoe stage to Goytre Wharf. The eighteen mile cycle section is generally flat and takes places along the canal tow path from Goytre to Llangynider. The eleven mile Run / Walk / Hike is flat and follows a beautiful section of the canal to finish in Brecon where you will be greeted by rapturous applause and entertainment at Brecon Theatre.
