CARAD Theatre

Unit 1 & 2, East Street, Rhayader, Powys, LD6 5ER, Wales

CARAD is very fortunate to have two buildings. The museum and shop is in one and there is a theatre, designed as a multi-functional space in the other.

The small theatre was originally designed for performance, music and dance workshops. Over the years there have been a wide variety of touring theatre companies and musicians who have performed in the theatre that has locally become known as CARAD. So don’t get confused if you hear the two names Rhayader Museum and Gallery and CARAD being used in the same breath.

The theatre has a sprung floor so it makes it ideal for dance as well as music and theatre productions. Together with theatre lighting and the ability to link the recording studio making it a very adaptable space which has been used for recording large choirs to chamber music performances.

Its versatility also means that each week there are regular classes and over the year it uses for Young Farmers rehearsals, Have a Go Shakespeare, yoga, line dancing and much more.
