Aim Higher was founded by Stephen Jones and is based in the heart of Snowdonia in North Wales. Mountains have been a part of Stephen’s life for over 25 years. His experiences have led him from his native Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia to the Swiss and French Alps, other parts of Europe, Norway, and Central America as well as parts of the UK, both in summer and winter.
A qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader as well as a former Royal Marine and Military Ski Instructor, Stephen has a wealth of experience which has given him an insight into many methods of teaching and instructing.
As an authorised provider under the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS), Stephen is able to offer a varied programme for schools, youth groups, scout groups and families.
A fluent Welsh speaker, Stephen is keen to promote the Welsh language, history, attractions and communities of Wales and Snowdonia in particular.
Our client feedback is always valued and some examples include:
1 Brilliant teacher, excellent weekend. Highly recommended. (Rhian from one of our Hill Skills Courses)
2 What a fantastic experience my sister and I had when we booked Aim Higher to complete the 14 Peaks challenge. Great communication from booking, a fantastic training day to see what we were 'in for'. On the day we had such amazing motivational skills to keep us going, supplied with great food and drinks. This day will be a day to remember we would never have been able to complete it otherwise. Steve's navigational skills were amazing the last few hours we could hardly see a few feet in front of us. A massive THANKS for making this a day that we will always remember. We will let you know what next years challenge will be !!! (Zoe and Vanessa who we helped complete the Welsh 14 Peaks Challenge)
