Ever feel the world is getting too large and things are moving too fast?
A Good Day Out Experience Day is the perfect stress-busting way to slow things down is a stroll in the company of a friendly little animals and we have the perfect little guys to spend a happy few hours with in the beautiful surroundings of the Brecon Beacons.
DINKY DONKEY WALKING
Good Day Out’s newest recruits are a pair of little Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys called Maverick and Goose. They are just a year old and are half-brothers, coming from a caring home in Kent who were amongst the first people to own this unusual little breed and fell in love with their gentle and usually comic ways.
The 'Dinky Donkeys' quickly settled into enjoying walks along the scenic ridge by their barn which has panoramic views to both Pen y Fan and the Central Beacons, and also towards the Black Mountain and Carmarthen Fans. You can join us for micro-group walks with these funny little characters, who are now just over a year old and almost fully grown at under 3 ft tall.
Good Day Out Experience Days offer special Towpath Walks along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal at Pencelli, which includes a stop at The Royal Oak’s beer garden for refreshments for us and the Dinkies.
If you would like a more “farmy” experience, you couldn’t get more Welsh than spending some quality time with a sheep!
Take a sheep for a walk through a 200 acre organic Welsh hill farm! This lovely experience has been created by Good Day Out and is a curious mix between pony trekking and llama walking, but with wonderful woolly companions.
The creators of Sheep Trekking have been taking sheep for a walk and the lovely flock of Jacobs Sheep are now well used to pottering around the drover’s routes on a lead, and people of all ages have enjoyed this curiously mindful experience.
The Jacob lads are a fair size, so there are two little additions to the fold in the form of two tiny Ouessants which are the smallest naturally occurring breed of sheep. The little guys arrived on the farm in February, and are now enjoying their farm walks, even leading the flock in spite of their little legs.
With treks through the summer, come see these cute little sheep and their woolly friends!
Good Day Out provide interesting, educational, and fun ways for people to easily engage with animals, wildlife, the countryside and rural skills and every experience day and product purchased gives funds to the designated good cause.
Good Day Out have recently introduced four little piggies who take micro-groups for walks along the scenic Senni Valley with their handler Helena who lives in this idyllic hidden valley on her smallholding.
Babz is the oldest and at two years old is a seasoned crowd-pleaser with good manners and polite sitting for treats. Her young little companions are Holly, Hazel and Willow, and at one year old they are a little more boisterous but all love a scratch and a fuss whilst getting a wiggle on!
All four are Kunekune pigs, which is a New Zealand breed that are small in size and of steady temperament although they have big personalities. The name Kunekune means “fat and round” in Maori, so don’t expect any slender creatures!
With walks year-round, the girls are keeping their trotters fit and ready, and like all our experiences, the walking is actually good for their health and wellbeing so you can be sure that you can have a great time whilst enjoying their pint-size company.
