Y Talbot is a characterful and historic Grade 2 Listed Inn located on the market square in the attractive small town of Tregaron, Ceredigion. Originally a drovers inn sitting at the foot of the Berwyn mountains Y Talbot is well situated for exploring the hills, river valleys and coastline of Ceredigion and is conveniently situated for the university towns of Lampeter and Aberystwyth.
Y Talbot has recently undergone extensive but sympathetic renovation, retaining the character of this well known business whilst providing top quality food, drink and accomodation with warm and friendly service.
Hosts Mick and Nia and chef Dafydd Watkin, invite you to enjoy our excellent food, either in the pub or the restaurant , drawing on the superb fresh produce that is available in area. We also stock an extensive range of Welsh cask ales and showcase the best local produce wherever possible.
When George Borrow visited Y Talbot in 1854 he referred to " the comfortable bed, good food and good company ", we believe that our guests will echo those sentiments today.
Stunning landscaped garden, south facing with superb views over Tregaron and the Cambrian. The large sloping site has been terraced to create attractive seating areas for al fresco eating and drinking whilst extensive planting of heathers and flowering shrubs has created an attractive and colourful backdrop. The boundary clawdd or hedgebank has been planted with a hedge of native hawthorn, hornbeam, hazel and beech interspersed with oak and mountain ash.
New guest parking for cars and motorbikes and a lockable bike store has also improved access and amenity for hotel guests.
