Felin Glais (Mill by the steep sided stream) is a 1650[Circa] renovated Barn and Beast House which lay in ruins for many years. It was sold by auction in 1977 for the princely sum of £6100. The new owners demolished all but one wall and took 10 years to rebuild it using the original stone and oak beams from a stable block of a local Manor House.

We purchased the house in 1997 after falling in love with the setting which overlooks the Brecon Beacon mountains and the magnificent Beast House which is presently the lounge and dining room. We have added a conservatory which during the warmer months is used as a breakfast room and a new wing which consists of two bedrooms with en suite facilities, one is a King size bedded room with a Spa bath. power shower, bidet, twin wash hand basins and a w.c. and the other is a twin bedded room which has power shower, wash hand basin and a w.c.. For stays of 2 days or more the bed can be converted to a superking bed. Hair Dryers and hot brushes are available in all rooms. The ground floor has a kitchen which should be completed during the next 12 months and will eventually be the breakfast room. There is a guest w.c. downstairs and a laundry room. A small charge is levied for serviced washing and drying of laundry. Ironing facilities are available for Guests to use. A travel cot is available.

The original section contains a room with a fourposter Kingsize bed with an ensuite hydracentre shower.

There is a fridge adjacent to all rooms. Milk, various teas, coffee, drinking chocolate and mineral water are supplied. Internet facilities are accessible for a small charge. There is a separate no smoking sitting room should guests require it. Garage space is available to store bicycles. Local equestrian is happy to take small parties including children for riding tuition or pony trekking.

Guests use all the house and are encouraged to do so. We started to plan our B&B venture some time after I decided to retire from being a headteacher which I no longer enjoyed. We offer bed and breakfast and an evening meal for advanced bookings. All meals are prepared using where possible local organic produce and seasonal vegetables. The menu is sent to guests and they choose in advance and either ring, email, fax or write with their choice. The evening meal is either 3 or 2 courses . There is no corkage charge for guests bringing their own wine. All dietary requirements and childrens meals are catered for, as are packed lunches, please inform us of your requirements when you make a reservation.

We enjoy having the house full, having only one dining table guests eat and socialize together and my husband and I join them for coffee and drinks after the meal. Many of our guests have returned and have become firm friends. My love is my garden which guests are welcome to wander around. Friendly dogs are most welcome. We only ask that guests take their dogs with them whenever they leave the premises. Please note the cancellation and re-allocation clause on the Tariff page.
